Rap Veterans Double Détente Share Nostalgic Hip-Hop Record ‘Et au delà’

Emerging from France, Double Détente are a sort of best-kept secret. While relatively unknown abroad, the power rap duo has been making waves since the mid-90s, under the moniker ‘K-Libre 13’. At the time, they were barely out of school, when they started rapping about their complex reality – be it personal issues or social challenges. Formed by DEM-K and K-DEM, the project found its flourishing ground in the dazzling cultural hotspot of Rue Brillat Savarin, in Paris 13th.

Safe to say, the two hip-hop talents never lost their artistic prowess. Double Détente is back on the scene this year, with a charming album full of old-school references and contemporary lyricism. Titled ‘Et au delà’, the record contains a whopping 14 tracks, including collaboration with the likes of Hamdi and Cheb Momo.

In the record, you’ll be catapulted into a nostalgic universe, made up of punchy boom bap beats and witty sampling. The real treat though will be Doube Détente’s magical vocal flow. Gritty, dark and strong, the two talents are a gift from another era, her to remind us of what once was, and it could still be today.
