Extremely contemporary and eclectic, the record builds its unique character on a charming, mainstream-flavoured indie pop formula, the perfect match for the duo’s playful and unwavering vocals, delivering nuggets of everyday honesty with a casual attitude.
Over eight engaging gems, the Lexington-based American pair showcases their fierceness and musical worth, layering euphoric synthetisers and drum machine-powered grooves with endless vocal harmonies and bop songwriting. Yep, ‘bop’: RAGS AND RICHES know how to construct melodies that stick with the listeners for hours on end; that’s what makes good pop, and they are crushing it.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the EP, the duo explain: “These songs pulled things out of us that we didn’t even know we had in us. I think we both think about ‘being broke’, ‘missing childhood’ and ‘love’; all the while we both were feeling extremely burnt out from all of the things that being an artist requires of you.”
