Quality Living Unveil Latest Effort ‘Aggro Crag EP’

There’s something quite special about ‘Aggro Crag EP’; something we can’t exactly pinpoint, but that could perhaps suggest terms such as ‘spacious’ and ‘blissful’. Introduced by field recordings of seagulls, the record soon moves onto its first track, ‘Aggro Crag’, a dreamy and lush offering drenched in brilliant guitar tones and elegant vocals. Generally speaking, we are in indie territories, although there’s a veiled psych energy in it.

‘The Great Kabash’ follows up. With gloomy synthetisers and light orchestral elements, the track develops into vintage-flavoured synth-pop, yet still managing to appear intricate and nuanced. ‘Daydream – EP Version’ dials it back to guitar-powered rock and indie matter, quite expressive and meaningful. ‘Oh No – EP Version’ closes the EP with perhaps its driest episode. Penned by American outfit Quality Living, ‘Aggro Crag EP’ is a great record, well deserving a listen (or two).

Speaking about the inspiration behind it, the group explains: “Our songs, set in lonely suburbs, vacuous getaway spots, and blurry dive bars, often seem to fight doggedly for some kind of comfort amidst the threat of repetitive gloom”.
