We have developed a deep connection with Proklaim: hailing from Namibia, the talented rapper and writer has been a constant feature on our music blog, showcasing the depth of creativity and innovation coming from the African continent. His formula is simple: acquiring great instrumentals – either through collaborators or online marketplaces – then giving them the ‘Proklaim treatment’.
That’s where he lays down his powerful, charming vocals, very effective in taking the listeners into Proklaim’s own musical universe. ‘PROSPERITY’ is the project’s latest effort, a slice of classic rap drenched in melancholic melodies and old-school piano riffing. Such a poignant sonic formula is the perfect match for the track’s controversial lyricism, reflecting on topics such as the arrest of hip-hop mogul Sean Combs, and other recent events.
‘PROSPERITY’ was recorded at Pen Pushaz Studios and mixed and mastered by Wojtek Majewski at Audio Art Namibia. Speaking about the record, Proklaim explains: “This song was written right after hearing of the arrest of hip hop mogul sean combs… It spawned a lot of thoughts and he felt motivated to speak on it and many other things… the beat he bought was particularly cinematic and it inspired him”.
