Gearing up for the release of their second album, Ireland-based rockers Pork Pie have unleashed ‘Helplessly Waiting’, a grungy, bluesy, and psychedelic offering that I’ve fallen completely in love with. Raw and exhilarating, the infectious tune deals with a dysfunctional relationship, “a kind of love-hate thing,” says the band.
Through gritty guitar riffs, galloping bass lines, and driving drum work, Pork Pie deliver a supremely powerful and unforgettable track. Michael Stafford puts on a spirited and energetic vocal performance and, with the addition of an alto sax and an organ, ‘Helplessly Waiting’ stands out as a truly unique and mesmerizing piece of music.
“Our songs take on a life of their own, with Michael bringing the basic structure to the band and then us developing it from there,” says the outfit. “This takes the song in a different direction than first imagined – the collaboration brings out the uniqueness of the music”.
‘Golden Leaf Sheets’ is the forthcoming record previously mentioned, and it’s scheduled for release toward the end of next month. It’s an album that, if ‘Helplessly Waiting’ is anything to go by, promises to be a bold and innovative addition to Pork Pie’s discography. We can’t wait to hear it!
