When approaching Icelandic pop duo Alyria & Bixxi, one could be swayed by considering them the usual electro/mainstream hobbyist project. Instead, a quick inside look reveals two very talented individuals, active not only in music professionally but also as filmmakers and general artist managers. If Alyria is a master in songwriting, singing and filmmaking, Bixxi champions a strong production career, rounding up the multi-disciplinary nature of the European couple.
Their latest effort takes the shape of ‘Running’, a slick and luscious R’n’B-infused pop gem, showcasing the duo’s evocative and sultry vocals over a very contemporary and interesting arrangement. With a touch of EDM in it, we are confident the track will become its listener’s favourite pretty quickly. Also a couple in real life, Alyria & Bixxi debuted the project in 2021, and since then they have been productive, to say the least: boasting a whopping seven singles released to date and clocking at almost 100k combined streams on Spotify alone.
Lyrically, ‘Running’ wants to focus on the small things that trouble relationships: the small details that inexplicably anger us and put us in a constant state of anxiety. Perhaps it’s time to take it easy and let it all flow peacefully. In the meantime though, you’d be a fool not to give Alyria & Bixxi a chance.
