We never heard something quite like this. Play Master Frequency is confidently one of the most original and authentic acts we have had the pleasure to write about this year. Emerging from the luscious Kuwait City, the project possesses a unique take on electronic music, giving it a strong cinematic, multi-cultural cut, while maintaining a certain aura of theatrical allure. Following their highly acclaimed March 2023 hit, ‘Noor Path’, ‘Glint Sound’ hits the listeners with a remarkable fusion of ethereal sounds, kaleidoscopic arrangements, and Arab-style vocals by the talented Hani Alsayed.
The innovative outlook on ‘Glint Sound’ is mostly given by the contrast between eclectic electric guitars and the stunning soundscapes, divided into lush string sections and spacious vocals, all sharing a distinctively Arabic quality. The synth work surprisingly interrupts such mesmerising concoction of sound, providing a glitchy, seemingly chaotic mesh of sonic euphoria.
Describing some of the choices in the arrangement, Play Master Frequency explain: “The strings at the beginning when it descends, they are a representation of our souls coming down to earth. Towards the end when the strings ascend it is about death and our souls leaving earth denser energy to lighter energy”.
