Janusz Domaszuk and Andrew Pelletier make up the Chicago-based indie act Plastic Tofu, and they’ve just unleashed a smashing new single called ‘Sundowner’. Inspired by the pair’s recent trip to the Pacific Coast Highway in California, it’s a straight-up rocker with one of the most infectious choruses I’ve heard all year.
Described by the duo as “an easy summer song about travel, a good time, and happiness,” ‘Sundowner’ leaves all the bells and whistles at the door in favour of a raw and unpretentious groove that transports listeners straight to the open road. Top-down with the wind in one’s hair, it’s a no-frills and high-energy tune that’s impossible to resist.
Plastic Tofu’s album ‘What Now?’, released in July last year, was a record that received widespread acclaim and set the stage for their continued rise in the industry. Since then they’ve kept themselves busy with four new singles plus a re-issue of their ‘Freedom’ EP, and show no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
Inspired by acts like Green Day, The Lawrence Arms, and a variety of punk and indie bands from the 90s and 00s, Plastic Tofu crafts a sound that’s both a tribute to their influences and a bold statement of their own.
Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘Sundowner’ on Spotify now:
