A laidback, yet hard-hitting gem, ‘Charlie’s Angels’ is a hypnotising, dreamy journey into Pink Jagg’s hip-hop universe. Drenched in eclectic stylings – low key quite poppy and evocative – the track sees North Hollywood-based creatives Austin and Jagger Spacy indulging in what they do best, aka creating charming, contemporary and witty tunes with relatable and catchy flair.
They are in fact brothers, with Jagger taking care of vocal duties and Austin mostly busy with production duties. It’s an artistic collaboration that works well: ‘Charlie’s Angels’ is the strongest evidence of that. Quite minimal yet effective, the track is built on sleazy, bouncy beats with guitar-like textures delivering harmonic content. Jagger’s vocals are light and playful, the perfect match for such a vibrant single.
Lyrically, ‘Charlie’s Angels’ draws from a (painful) personal experience, as Pink Jagg explain: “Charlie’s Angels is about me realizing that my girl was cheating on me the whole time. She came home late one night and her hair was all messed up and her purse was all opened. It was evident. ‘Must of been on a mission!’”.
