It took me a while to get into ‘Cut & Run’. Quirky and unique, the track is steeped in the new wave, Madchester and punk tradition, emerging as a rebellious, fierce anthem in today’s music industry. Also, if I can suggest, this is a piece made to be experienced at a loud volume – that’s where its magic really seems to capture the listener.
Introduced by industrial textures, ‘Cut & Run’ soon develops over a blend of gritty, fuzzy guitars and 909-style grooves, a stark sonic contrast which gives the record a strong experimental and leftfield flair. It’s the chorus that seals the deal for us – the entrance of long guitar textures and chorus-drenched tones supercharge an already compelling sonic formula.
Penned by British creative pink cloud, ‘Cut & Run’ was produced together with Louis Hardy from Higher Power; the pair crafts an unbeatable gem, the perfect match for the London talent’s evocative and empowering vocals, balanced between spoken words and light singing.
