Formerly known as Rachel Rose, the London-based musician is back with a new name, new tunes, and a deeper purpose for her mission. Now going by Phoenix Rose, the artist has just released a track called ‘The Thing About Love’, a chilled-out and downtempo piece that essentially tells the love story of life. “Love is one of the greatest gifts we have, it just gets tarnished by trauma, abandonment, and heartache,” says Rose. Whenever I put on ‘The Thing About Love’, I instantly get a Zero 7 vibe from the tune. It just has a similar feeling and atmosphere, at least instrumentally.
Rose’s vocal performance also deserves special mention. Filled with heart and soul, her undeniable passion is clear for all to hear. Powerful, controlled, beautiful. It’s this voice that has seen Rose perform at venues such as Wembley Arena, Hammersmith Apollo, and even Glastonbury.
I know I’ve mentioned this before but ‘The Thing About Love’ is another wonderful example of a song that, ordinarily, may have passed me by. I’m so glad it didn’t! I can’t wait to hear what more Phoenix Rose has in store for the world. Hop along and enjoy the ride!
