Phil Lentz Shares Elegant Jazz Ballad ‘I Remember The Early Days’

‘I Remember The Early Days’ is an interesting record to write about, especially when compared to other jazz records we have taken on in the past few years. You see, everyone seems to have lost the passion for ‘swung’ jazz, instead using straight tempos as a modern canvas to improvise on. Of course, there’s a place for that, but we also feel that there’s a certain value in embracing more traditional elements of the genre. Phil Lentz does exactly that, sharing a soothing and elegant ballad with traditional flair.

Embracing a charming swing spirit, ‘I Remember The Early Days’ benefits from Lentz’s eclectic piano phrases, never overpowering the composition, and always at the service of music. Evocative and luscious female vocals complete the compelling sonic picture, wrapping the keen listener into a tender, joyful and nostalgic jazz panorama.

Speaking about the lyricism behind the record, Phil explains: “It’s a reflective piece that captures the beauty of memories and the passage of time, drawing the listener into its emotional depth.” Hailing from New York, the talented musician has recently released the wider album ‘Phil Lentz Presents… Vol II’, from which the single is taken from.
