Pearl and the Piano Unveil Meaningful Single ‘Mrs Jones’

Rather nostalgic and nuanced, ‘Mrs Jones’ is a highly emotional song, exploring the complex territories around alcohol abuse and its devastating weight in a relationship. Taking a cue from Billy Paul’s hit ‘Me and Mrs Jones’, Pearl and the Piano embark on a musically rich and thought-provoking ballad-style anthem, pivoting enchanted Folk and Country matter with a decisively pop flair – their songwriting is certainly on point.

Introduced by a plethora of textures and electric piano-based goodness, the record soon leaves space for Pearl’s stunning and soulful vocals, so light yet so evocative and charged with meaning. The British duo also consists of ‘Piano’ – the pair seems to be working extremely well, oscillating between folk tradition and more contemporary references.

Delving into the inspiration behind the song, the pair explain: “What happened to Mrs Jones? Well like many country songs, it’s not going that well. Mrs Jones was written for every woman living with a partner who is struggling with alcohol and addiction.”
