Boasting quite a glorious track record, Miami-based musician and songwriter Patrick Doval always manages to surprise the listeners. While there’s nothing complex in its music, it is pretty relatable and digestible; the general flavouring is very elegant and unique, a sign of an artist who’s not following trends or proven formulas; simply, he’s expressing himself the best he can.
For Doval, that includes getting Pete Parada (formerly of The Offspring) to play for him. A recurrent collaboration, the alchemy between Patrick and the notable drummer seems to be working perfectly, as we can all observe in ‘Back Home’. Doval’s latest effort, the song is a slice of new-wave nostalgia blended with modern rock-pop sentiment, making for an offering that’s contemporary, yet rooted in tradition.
The single ships with a witty and curious music video, directed by Patrick himself. The visual piece offers a closer look at the project’s overall aesthetic, quite playful, fierce and bold.
