We are back with the latest record by Patricio Anabalon. The keen reader will recall our previous piece on ‘Una Manzana Azul, Un Sueño Verde’, a record that saw the Chilean troubadour collaborate with Augusto Blanca. Well, we are proud to share that Anabalon has recently released his latest effort, involving legendary Cuban singer Silvio Rodríguez in the wonderfully evocative ‘Danza’.
In it, we caught strong glimpses of eclecticism, with Patricio’s usual Latin flair joined by a slightly more contemporary arrangement, and elegant streams of violins gracefully interlacing the sonic picture. Introduced by Anabalon’s keen guitar arpeggios, ‘Danza’ raises the intensity as it goes along, slowly transforming into an emotional jewel, a heartwarming, nuanced piece that’s as meaningful as it is hypnotising.
Rodríguez’s mellow, luscious vocals are a perfect match for such a vibrant offering, joining Patricio in what we can only describe as a masterpiece. Of course, the record might not be for everyone – yet, we are confident that its cathartic, welcoming aura will appeal to a wide range of listeners. Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Danza’, Anabalon explains: “It covers the entire emotional spectrum, from nostalgia to hope, from sadness to love, and does so with the power of two voices that, although distant in time, find a unique and vibrant point of connection.”
