Described as “a smouldering rock ballad suited for golden-hour drives,” Paola Bennet’s brand new single ‘Call Home’ invites listeners to embark on a dreamy and cinematic adventure. Clocking in at just under five minutes, the synth-filled and intimate tune brings to mind the sonic landscapes of artists like Maggie Rogers and Ethel Cain. Delicate, beautiful, ethereal. Bennet worked with longtime producer Adam Tilzer (Keith Richards) to bring ‘Call Home’ to life, and that beeping you hear near the beginning is actually Morse code spelling out the track’s name – an addition that Paola was extremely fond of!
Through her storytelling, the musician conveys the timeless theme of summer love, and the belief that the season isn’t over until a casual crush turns into something more meaningful. “It’s the moment you go from “Oh, you’re hot” to “Wait, I want to see you in the daylight too,”” explains Paola. “I wanted to put that shift from desire to affection to sound”.
Born in Boston but now currently based in New York, Bennet has established herself as a supreme songwriter and storyteller. Her debut release came in the form of ‘The Shoebox EP’ back in 2017, so there’s a lot more of her artistry still to discover! I can’t wait to dive in!
