We really like ‘My Heart, Your Love’. Taking cues from indie outfits such as Death Cab For Cutie, the record engages in fragile, soothing and emotional indie matter, all drenched in clean guitars, light textures and evocative vocals. What more could you want? Painted Friends deliver on all aspects. Sonically, we just said it, their sound features familiar references and a warm, comforting arrangement.
Lyrically, it’s an honest and authentic love anthem to our reality, almost a hymn to acceptance and simplicity, something that we desperately need in our modern times. Hailing from Detroit, the group is headed by the talented Jeremy McWhorter, right now working on a larger album to be unveiled later this year. If ‘My Heart, Your Love’ is anything to go by, we are in for a meaningful record.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Painted Friends explain: “A love song between me and the rest of the world. I wrote it to express my appreciation for existing. I hope you love it as much as we do”.
