We haven’t forgotten about PAENDA: writing about ‘One More Time’ just a few months ago, we proudly declared it “a strong, catchy single focusing on evocative and relatable storytelling”. We stand by our words: the Vienna-based songstress has a knack for anthemic, emotional and meaningful lyricism, often wrapped in a luscious EDM production. Latest effort ‘Up and Down’ follows that very same recipe, showcasing once again PAENDA’s unmistakable, bold character together with her luscious, striking vocals.
Released via Sick Kick Records, ‘Up and Down’ moves the project into mainstream EDM territories, leaving behind the alt-pop elements of some of her previous records. She’s clearly looking ahead of her, to the future, with a global-ready sound that’s likely to conquer clubs worldwide. The catchy chorus blinks an eye to some of dance’s most familiar motifs, drawing an imaginary line between tradition and futurism. There’s clearly a great deal of Eurodance influences in it.
Speaking about the lyricism behind the single, PAENDA explains: “Up and Down’ is about love that pushes you to your limits. It’s like a pendulum swinging wider and harder, between euphoric highs and crushing lows. It’s a cycle that’s as addictive as it is destructive.”
