Owen Young Returns with Bucolic, Soothing EP ‘Town Line’

The pandemic might be long gone, but its lingering effect on creatives worldwide is still affecting us to this day. One of those effects – a rather positive one this time – comes from the wealth of songwriting material Owen Young was able to write during the many lockdowns, a catalogue of acoustic-powered, relatable folk and country gems that are now being released in an EP called ‘Town Line’.

Stemming from a wider four-part album called ‘Muddy River’, the EP gifts us once again Young’s lyrical wisdom and earthy, bucolic vocals. Framed by his personal experiences living in Southern Ontario, Owen writes about the ins and outs of rural life, taking inspiration from the many years under his belt. Such meaningful lyricism is layered onto soothing, heartwarming guitar-powered matter, a joy to listen to.

Featuring eight wonderful songs, ‘Town Line’ is also a strongly cathartic offering. Its mellow character, and the ethereal aura in it, are all bound to initiate an introspective journey in the attentive listeners. We are not complaining: we love art that makes us think and reflect, especially with a strong nostalgic undertone.
