Having previously featured ‘Washed Away’ in our publication, we grew to appreciate the Aussie talent’s raw and honest lyrical style, never afraid to deliver material that’s fully planted in reality. Not a lot of metaphors in it: just the pure, unfiltered truth. It’s a breath of fresh air; the music industry can be quite ‘phony’, but Ollie doesn’t refrain from pursuing what’s relevant and authentic to him.
That’s exactly the case with ‘Stifled’. Among a modern and nuanced rock production, Twohill delivers an honest plea for mental health awareness. As he explains: “‘Stifled’ is a track that displays struggles with mental health and suicide prevention. We all suffer from mental health-related challenges at some point in our lives. I wrote it as a call for help in a way, channelling negative emotions I’ve felt in periods of my life where I’ve hit rock bottom and wanted to end it all.”
