Just a few days ago, London-born Turkish pop artist NOX released her debut single, and I’m still trying to understand how this is actually her first-ever official release. There’s a professionalism and confidence to ‘Sun Goes Down’ that would have you believe NOX has been doing this for a while now. Paying homage to her Turkish roots, the musician seamlessly blends English and Turkish lyrics together over an experimental, hypnotising, and hard-hitting pop soundscape. Her vocal performance is strong and powerful, bringing to mind the likes of GRACEY, Nova Norda, and Billie Eilish.
“I’ve spent two years perfecting this track,” says NOX. “And finally it’s out there for everyone to hear!” Interestingly, a demo version of ‘Sun Goes Down’ went viral in 2021, and gained over 100,000 views overnight on SoundCloud and Instagram respectively. I think it’s fair to say that the tune deeply resonated with listeners, and that’s all down to NOX’s authenticity. She’s the real deal folks!
‘Sun Goes Down’ offers up a wonderful alternative to modern-day pop music. With the addition of Turkish and Middle Eastern harmonies, it’s a song that sticks out for all the right reasons. I can see NOX’s musical career going seriously far if this is a sign of things to come.
Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘Sun Goes Down’ on Spotify now:
