Nothing but a Nightmare Unveil Charismatic New Album ‘The Salvation’

Emerging from Pennsylvania, Nothing but a Nightmare configure themselves as a charming, kaleidoscopic rock outfit, blending alt-rock tones with mellower pop sensibilities. Boasting quite a long career behind them, the group returned earlier this month with their third studio album to date, ‘The Salvation’, an irresistible amalgam of punchy, fuzzy tones and groovy, uplifting grooves.

Take the opener ‘Baggage Claim’: navigating alt-rock territories while drenched in punk sensibilities, the track showcases perfectly the band’s high-level musicianship. Surprisingly, in the bridge, we get served a slice of classic rock, especially thanks to lead singer Tamanini’s exciting lead vocals, capable of acute notes we can only dream of. ‘Can’t Fix Stupid’ – on the other hand – takes a whole different approach. Championing a friendlier pop/rock outlook, the track is a potential radio hit, oozing with dancy and full-good vibes.

It’s this contrast between hard and smooth that greatly characterises Nothing but a Nightmare, recalling a grittier version of The Fratellis. Like them, the PA talents effortlessly deliver bubbly melodies and catchy choruses – talk about songwriting prowess! Overall, ‘The Salvation’ is an electrifying, in-your-face musical force. You are bound to deeply connect with the album, also thanks to its relationship-driven lyricism.
