Norwich Alt-Rock Outfit Fierce Grace Debuts with Powerful Gem ‘False Pretence’

There’s a very raw element to Fierce Grace’s debut single, ‘False Pretence’. The alt-rock, grunge outfit from Norwich engages in bare-bone distortion and old-school production values, delivering a record that feels immediate, relatable, a breath of fresh air from the current landscape of over-produced music. Fierce Grace uses what’s available to them: evocative female vocals, a gritty, unfiltered guitar tone and steady drums. It is enough to make them stand out.

Lyrically, ‘False Pretence’ seeks to be an anthem of personal growth, offering insights into the complexities of human relationships. Led by powerful vocalist Lexy Davis, the song focuses on her first-hand experience with a friend who turned out to be a narcissist. Through her lyrics, she conveys that not everyone you trust is your friend, and that people can easily hurt you if you let them.

Inspired by the likes of Paramore, Icon For Hire, Marmozets and New Years Day, among others, Fierce Grace try their best at showcasing a unique artistic identity: they are certainly successful, boasting a sound that will leave you satisfied, yet eager to find out more. Founded by Alex London and Doug Segal in March 2022, the group claims to be a truly collaborative effort. Connor Laight and Lexy Davis complete a talented line-up.
