There are a lot of good things to be said about Northern Captives; a quick listen to their catalogue will showcase that extremely well. A trio, the group emerges from a plethora of past experiences, giving them a wealth of knowledge that’s now been put to good use. ‘Living In-Between’ is the strongest evidence of that.
A nuanced, poignant yet fierce indie jewel, the track feels anthemic, expressive and relatable, offering hard-hitting and furious distortions among more melancholic melodies and meaningful lyricism. For a trio, Northern Captives are hella noisy! It’s a positive sign about their internal alchemy. Built on irresistible riffs and slow-burn, ever-evolving intensity, ‘Living In-Between’ comes particularly alive during the chorus, as one would expect.
When that section hits, the listener will rejoice in a flurry of electrifying tones and evocative vocals. What more could you want? Already praised by the likes of Kerrang!
