We appreciate it when artists are able to not hyper-fixate on a mood, or a style, instead exploring a variety of sources and influences, thus delivering a more eclectic catalogue. Noah Kahlil appears to be en route to do exactly that. This year, the Los Angeles-based troubadour has already released two records, one being the playful, charming effort ‘Candy’ (we wrote about it here), and the second one being a rather more nuanced and intricate offering, ‘Karma Collects’.
A soulful and musically enticing piece, the single benefits from the collaboration with producer 4most, lending his creative skills to the cause. From a stylistic standpoint, ‘Karma Collects’ is more expansive and diverse, still bathing in hip-hop yet with a certain R&B elegance in it. The vibe is rather liminal and neon-lit, and as such it perfectly fits Kahlil’s evocative, sultry vocal tone.
Having been silent in 2024 – at least from a release schedule perspective – Kahlil seems to have found his winning streak again. If you ask us which one we prefer between ‘Candy’ and ‘Karma Collects’… well, we couldn’t tell you. The truth is that both tracks serve a purpose. The latter is a loyal ally for late afternoon reflections and homely evenings, while the former is a late-night, dazzling anthem.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Karma Collects’, Noah explains: “It’s all about the Karmic Cycle and just choosing respect at the end of the day”.
