Independent singer-songwriter Abz Winter has been racking in some impressive achievements since 2021, making an appearance as a contestant on ITV’s music contest ‘Walk the Line’, winning the Undiscovered Talent UK 2021 competition, getting airplay on BBC Radio 2, receiving nominations for Radio Wigwams’ and The NMG’s ‘Best Female Artist 2021’, and the list goes on… testaments to this young girl’s promising talent.
After releasing a few singles and EPs since 2020, the artist returns with a new banger, demonstrating a more retro take on her pop music. In her future releases, the artist aims to deliver a rawer performance with an indie rock essence and pop punk attitude, starting with ‘It’s Not Your Movie’. The instrumentation is punchy and rhythmic, driving the song with a subtle pop energy that grows as the track progresses.
‘It’s Not Your Movie’ and Winter’s vocals are reminiscent of Rihanna’s 2010’s era, especially in the bridge of the song, with an “I don’t give a sh*t” attitude delivered through powerful but effortless vocals that balance sweet and feisty. Winter’s voice is the main attraction in this song, supported by dense instrumentation that creates an edgy ambiance, putting what she has to say at the forefront.
