Nikita Lev Gears Up for Upcoming EP with Nuanced Single ‘Kill Her Mind’

Ahead of her forthcoming EP ‘Waiting’ – expected on May 16th – New York-based songstress Nikita Lev has recently unveiled ‘Kill Her Mind’, a haunting, intense yet uplifting and anthemic indie-pop piece, a slice of liminal dreaminess in the face of melancholic emotions and buoyant anxiety. Written as a post-breakup piece, the single seeks to evoke complex feelings such as sadness, anger and grief, while also including a more general take on loss, here intended as the difficulty to digest pain and new beginnings.

Even among such challenging lyricism, Nikita never falls into self-loathing. Instead, she asks herself the important questions, trying to make sense of the events around her. From a sonic standpoint, such crucial imagery is supported by a simple bedroom-pop-esque production, the perfect match for Lev’s dynamic, potent vocal tone.

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Kill Her Mind’, Nikita explains: “It’s about wanting to stop thinking. Wanting to let go. But also knowing you can’t. It’s like your mind is working against you, replaying things over and over, and you just want it to shut off.”
