Nick Teale is a Louisville-based progressive folk artist who recently teamed up with the popular alternative metal act Skipping Stone to create something truly special. Paying tribute to Ryan Preston, a fellow Louisville native, metal legend, and lead guitarist and vocalist for Overthrone, Nick and Co. have gone about fashioning an absolutely epic tune. What begins in a quiet, acoustic, and contemplative mood eventually turns into a galloping classic metal track that’s reminiscent of bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. Teale’s vocals are spellbinding, with a range seldom seen, and couldn’t fit more perfectly into the accompanying soundscape.
The lads from Skipping Stone also put on a seriously impressive performance with some deadly guitar riffs and powerful bass lines that drive the song forward with relentless energy. Towards the tune’s climax, we are treated to a mesmerizing guitar solo, and the exceptional musicianship of all involved with ‘Sail On’ is now firmly cemented.
By labelling himself as a “multi-genre acoustic artist,” Nick creates a buzz of excitement around what he’ll offer up next. One can never quite tell…And that’s something to savour in today’s musical climate. I’ve fallen hard for this utter blockbuster of a track and can’t wait to hear from Teale again soon!
