Nexxus 604 Evokes Burning Man Vibes with ‘Awakening’

This record goes out to all of our alternative readers. To all who wish to one day attend Burning Man, dancing their minds off from dusk till down to a stream of dreamy and hypnotising electronic matter. Well, Nexxus 604 won’t take you to Nevada, but what he can do is offer you a slice of the same energy. Built on mysterious and introspective psytrance stylings, the track seeks to appeal to a larger listenership by including dubstep and EDM references.

The result is pretty much successful: it’s a well-balanced single, not too out there for the mainstream crowd, and not too broad for the niche peeps. All in all, Nexxus 604 does a very good job. Blending fast-paced, brainiac sections with a dubstep-like, half-time breakdown, the American producer and DJ showcases his production prowess, able to draw from familiar tones and synths, but also to look at the future and outside his usual game field.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Nexxus 604 explains: “The idea for this track came to me at Burning Man, where I attended for the first time this year. I was invited to participate in a project called ‘Project Awakening’, which featured a dance floor in the shape of a giant eye at the edge of the Burning Man Playa”
