Built over a slightly nostalgic hip-hop beat, ‘SGMA (Remix)’ also contains a healthy amount of R&B influences, echoing elegance, fierceness and energy. Inspired by Jack Harlow and Dave’s hit record ‘Stop Giving Me Advice’, the single is Neo 21’s latest effort. Formerly known as Neoteriq, the UK-based talent seems to have found a new outlook on his music and artistic work, blending powerful and evocative lyricism with groovy and vibrant productions.
Originally from Nigeria, Neo 21’s afro roots can still be found plentiful in ‘SGMA (Remix)’, especially in the beat’s ‘bouncy’ quality. Truly, the record is a melting pot of elements, all processed through the creative mind of the proficient rapper and songwriter. A rather personal work, ‘SGMA (Remix)’ is written from the perspective of landing in a foreign land, looking for opportunities and a new start.
Speaking about the song, Neo 21 explains: “It signifies a clean slate to lay out new plans and perspectives, it can also serve as a means of resetting the board and moving on from old experiences and limitations as well as building on past momentum.”
