‘Lightning’ is the crunchy and gritty new single from the London-based alternative-rock act Near Death Experience (NDX). Flying out of the traps with a storm of chanting vocals, elevating acoustic guitars, pulsating basslines, and thunderous cymbal crashes, it’s a tune that ignites the senses straight away. A captivating blend of raw energy and melodic prowess just wash over you and, before you know it, four minutes have completely passed you by. With its delightful indie jangle reminiscent of classic 60s rock, and its resounding guitar motifs, ‘Lightning’ is a track that I can see having universal appeal.
Lyrically, the emotive anthem sends out a passionate message to never give up. To squeeze the most you can from every second you have on this earth. To face one’s challenges head-on, and to be ready to roll with the punches when life hits you with lightning bolts. Metaphorically, of course.
I’ve fallen in love with this wonderfully addictive and innovative song. It’s NDX’s first release of 2023, and I really hope they have more new music up their sleeves. The good news is, they’ve built up a solid discography since 2019, so kindly pardon me as I immerse myself in it!
