‘look, the wind is coming for us’ is not your typical record. It’s first and foremost a spiritual journey through Naomi Pacifique’s authentic artistry, a meaningful and charged listening experience that’s bound to positively confuse and enrich your sense of beauty. Of course, this won’t be an album for everyone. If the only thing you can endure is a catchy pop tune, look elsewhere. But if you are willing to delve into deeper musical territories, exploring the fragility of your own identity and the fragility of your intimacy, then this is the record for you.
Since we are called Mesmerized, ‘look, the wind is coming for us’ was a perfect match for us. Built over long soundscapes and field recordings from Pacifique’s many trips around the world, the album feels spacious and celebrative, almost solemn. It reminds us of the mental image of clouds floating freely in the sky, embodying the same thrilling sensation evoked by limitless freedom and unlimited escapism. Naomi’s vocals add to what’s an already charming formula, showcasing their evocative and luscious nature, while treated in angelic and bucolic effects.
Describing the inspiration behind the record, Pacifique explains: “It features songs written on the basis of various places including the Amazon rainforest, Berlin, Amsterdam and Donostia. It takes a trip from human intimacy, to the intimacy we can find with nature, space and time. As such it is greatly influenced by spiritual ecology.”
