Take a deep breath: you are about to get schooled by a banana about what it means to ‘groove’. It turns out, the banana in question knows a whole lot about it. Trading by the name Frank Richman, the project is as mysterious as it gets, yet it delivers crystal clear musical goodness. Tracks that welcome listeners from any walk of life – perhaps that’s the motivation behind it, releasing pure, unfiltered musical goodness to be taken at face value, for everybody.
‘99 Fire’ is Richman’s latest effort, a stunning old-school funk anthem that absolutely slaps. A dance-inducing, intoxicating piece which will move even the most apathetic of listeners. Featuring charming female vocals with a strong soul twist, ‘99 Fire’ reminds us of the best James Brown tunes sparkled with a light Motown euphoria. In the music video, the banana plays a saxophone, and it performs with a rather impressive solo. Props to you, banana.
Honestly, the whole thing is a very alluring package. There are no hidden messages behind it, at least from what we can gather. The only important takeaway is to enjoy the music and let yourself let loose to the rhythm. Then again, we don’t know Frank Richman’s real intentions… so keep an eye out for future releases!
