Perfectly fitting the definition of ‘bedroom pop’, ‘SUMMER PROJECTS (PART 2)’ navigates the relatable and expansive world of simple productions and relatable songwriting, reaching the goal of being an approachable and down-to-earth record. Despite that, the EP finds a certain depth, especially through its indietronica stylings, quite hazy and hypnotising.
Blending folk-pop stylings with indie coolness, Brooklyn-based creative Mylo Choy ends up with a substantial body of work, a series of eclectic, light and quirky gems with a modern outlook. Crowning it all, we find Choy’s vocals, always quite casual and relaxed, giving the EP a heightened sense of nostalgia and simplicity.
Don’t let that fool you though: the American troubadour dives with gusto and charisma into his own personal experience, initiating a journey of introspection and reckoning that will be familiar to many listeners out there. Such a lyrical quality makes perfect sense when considering that ‘SUMMER PROJECTS (PART 2)’ was written during the pandemic. It also features an older brother, a part 1, released back in 2022.
