What a year myah has had. Marking her permanent comeback into the global pop landscape, the Los Angeles-based songstress has been unveiling a series of dreamy, poignant pop gems with a distinct, cathartic character. Writing about love, life and the complex world of human relationships, myah now unveils her latest effort, ‘the lobby’, taking her to a whopping nine (!) singles released this year so far.
Here at Mesmerized, we have been writing about the project a fair bit, but if you happen to be a novice, ‘the lobby’ will serve as the perfect introductory episode. Self-described as a “cinematic break-up anthem to close out the summer”, the track presents itself as a bubbly and fierce indie-pop gem, a guitar-powered, synthy bop drenched in what we’d call playful melancholia (and a pinch of rage too).
Other than that, the record finds its biggest asset in the wonderful and interesting music video shot by myah to complement the song. Here’s what she had to say about it: “It was made by a group of indie filmmakers that had a mission to prove you don’t need to be “famous” or attached to a label to make something exciting.”
