I first discovered the work of Los Angeles-based artist myah in April this year when she unleashed a cinematic dark-pop wonder called ‘i’ll be your light’. Quickly labelling the grand and expansive tune as “powerful and deeply emotive’, I’ve been keeping a close eye (and ear) on myah’s art ever since.
Her latest release is another truly exceptional track called ‘flames’, and it sees the musician exploring a softer and gentler sonic approach compared to ‘i’ll be your light’. Offering up a soul-stirring and intimate experience, ‘flames’ allows myah’s rich, golden, and charismatic vocals to take centre stage. “‘flames’ is a love song about a relationship ending because their partner has an avoidant attachment style,” says the artist. “They convinced themselves that they weren’t worthy of love, and they can’t see it any other way. It’s a plea to stay together, but the dark thoughts are too great”.
Currently working on her debut album which is scheduled for release later this year, myah is a performer I’m falling deeper and deeper in love with. With each new single she unveils another layer of her captivating musical journey.
