My Name Is Ian Release Infectious New Album ‘GO BANANAS GO BANANAS GO BANANAS GO BANANAS GO BANANAS’

For the sake of brevity, we’re going to call the cracking new album from the Cardiff-based three-piece My Name Is Ian ‘GO BANANAS’. We hope that’s alright with everyone! It’s the band’s eighth studio album and is filled with their signature blend of infectious and quirky energetic pop melodies. Lyrically, to say that there’s something for everyone would be the understatement of the year. As the band put it, the record features tunes about, “hating your life, loving your life, Norwegian families, coconut crabs, ’90s television shows, feeling like a loser,  not trusting the government, and Peppa Pig”.

‘We Are All Alone, Nothing To Fear’ gets the album underway with an almost reggae-ish beat and the reverb-soaked vocals of frontman Reginald Foxwell. If their plan was to suck you in with a unique and avant-garde track…they’ve succeeded! ‘Thank You’ then follows and we are now thrust into an upbeat little indie-rock number with funky basslines and sparkling drums – superb!

‘Atomic Warlords’, ‘Acrylic Paint’, and ‘I Wouldn’t Die For You’ are three more songs that, I believe, expertly showcase My Name Is Ian’s ability to craft catchy hooks and captivating narratives. The whole album is a winner though, and it deserves your immediate and undivided attention!
