Serving as a hard-hitting, impressive debut record, ‘Your Fire’ showcases all of the eclecticism and retro energy MXM Pro has to offer. Framed into playful, 90s-flavoured house music, the track feels uplifting and rather euphoric, with J. Lamotta’s soulful vocals adding a layer of elegance and sultry lyricism – the perfect match for such a dance-oriented record.
Hailing from North Carolina’s so-called ‘triangle area’, MXM Pro has been making strides in his local scene, setting the cornerstone for a wider career. Judging by what we can hear in ‘Your Fire’, we think the American creative has the chance to conquer bigger stages soon. The track has been put together with ‘gusto’ (good taste), paying homage to the house classics while maintaining a deeply contemporary livery. It’s also rather minimal in its execution, really focusing on the bouncy, ‘jacking’ beat.
Overall, we at Mesmerized are excited by it. It must be said that this record needs to be experienced rather than described – certainly danced to. Nonetheless, MXM Pro’s best quality is the intricacy of blending past and future, and we are confident we’ll be hearing from him soon again.
