It’s been a while since we clocked a concept album. Hell, even normal albums are not the norm anymore. San Diego-based rock heroes Mrs. Henry clearly don’t care about trends or contemporary strategies, instead embarking on an anthemic and colossal rock opera. Do you remember those? Rock opera… legendary bands come to mind, Rush being the obvious one. Mrs. Henry might not have the same instrumental prowess, but they do have character and passion for days.
‘Keep on Rising’ is a truly nuanced and massive record. Described as the story of “OUR TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY RISING STAR”, the album explores a music industry archetype we have come to know in real life… Mrs. Henry translate such an experience in artistic terms, crafting a musical-flavoured collection of a whopping 45 tracks, including bonuses. Calling themselves a ‘collective’, rather than a conventional band, Mrs. Henry are pretty eclectic in their compositions, letting the listeners in on their true intentions…. This is not just a rock album. But you are gonna have to dig deep for that.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Keep On Rising’, they explain: “Our protagonist, the author and victim of appetite YOUR TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY RISING STAR wants it all – and wants it now – from fame to sex to drugs to peace and love – and maybe even enlightenment.”
