Mrberdo commands not only a potent new record, but also a rather inspiring story. Hailing from the Netherlands, the talented producer and creative embraced music production as a self-affirming tool, finding purpose and goals in making art and collaborating with fellow musicians. P.A.P. is the perfect example of that: out today, the album signals Mrberdo’s longstanding commitment to his craft. It also seems to have evolved significantly from last year’s release, ‘P Saves Lives’.
Leaving the instrumental formula behind, the Rotterdam-based producer expands his sound with a plethora of soothing, evocative vocals, all lending their unique and hypnotising force to an already substantial album. ‘P.A.P’ is also quite eclectic, with chilled, laidback and introspective pieces such as ‘3 PSYCHO’S’ standing tall against punchier, more striking offerings, the likes of ‘HOLD BACK’ – a doomsday-esque hip-hop bit – or the club-oriented ‘MILLIONAIRE’.
A proud FL Studio User, it’s clear the Mrberdo is growing fast as an artistic entity, and honestly, he doesn’t have a lot to envy to more famous, notable names. The songwriting and the sound design in ‘P.A.P.’ are satisfactory, as it is his ability to never overpower the vocals, letting the tracks breathe and resonate with the listeners.
