Courtesy of Princeton-based duo Maxwell Pollock and Robert Rosado, better known simply as MR, the pair’s latest release is a fizzy, funky, and seriously danceable little number. Poppy and upbeat with a bit of classic boy band nostalgia, ‘Soda Pop’ bursts with energy and is a refreshing throwback that effortlessly blends the old-school with a more expansive and contemporary sound.
Thematically, Maxwell and Robert explain that their most recent offering is about “the immediate attraction one feels for another person, even without context”. Describing the lyrics as “almost entirely double entendre,” ‘Soda Pop’ keeps things light and cheeky, teasing the listener with playful ambiguity while keeping them hooked with every beat.
As the duo’s fifth single to date, ‘Soda Pop’ continues MR’s meteoric rise in the indie music scene.
