In it, the keen listener will discover a whole deal of eclectic influences. Yes, we are in hip-hop territories, but there’s a whiff of soul and R&B in it, plus modern electronica.
That’s Molombo’s imprint: the Congolese-American talent has often enjoyed dipping in and out of neighbouring genres, be it melancholic pop, dancy rap or more conventional hip-hop. It seems to be working: having amassed impressive streaming figures on Spotify alone, Molombo is on his way to global recognition. It’s not an ‘if’, it’s a ‘when’.
Known for his creative personality, Molombo also boasts a participation in MTV’s recent reality show ‘The Love Experiment’. Speaking about ‘Boss Boi’, he explains: “The piano keys in the introduction jolted me out of my seat. I heard the song right away, and to this day I chuckle as I remember everyone rushing to set up the mic before I forgot the melody.”
