Molombo Returns with More Genre-Bending Goodness on ‘StarStruck’

The attentive reader will remember our feature on Molombo‘s previous tune ‘Boss Boi’. With a generous helping of playful attitude and pure confidence, we instantly described the Congolese-American talent as “often dipping in and out of neighbouring genres”.

Well, Molombo now makes a powerful comeback in signature style with ‘StarStruck’, his brand new tune that draws on inspiration from Bob Dylan’s classic ‘Only a Pawn in Their Game’.

Bringing a vibrant African indie-rock vibe to the fore, we begin with a psychedelic guitar and some synthy goodness. Rinus N, a Cameroonian vocal chanter, then enters proceedings before the hypnotic and laidback beat eventually drops. Molombo now steps up to the plate and offers a melodic social commentary that highlights his impeccable flow and vocal prowess. It’s masterful stuff to be completely honest, and I feel as if ‘StarStruck’ needs to be soaked up and digested rather than explained.

Dedicated to uplifting the spirits of his listeners through immersive storytelling and empowering them through community connections, Molombo is a true artist in every sense of the word. We are honoured to champion his artistry, and cannot wait to see what he offers up next!
