Earlier this year, we had the privilege of interviewing Canadian songstress Moira Chicilo. Having fallen in love with her work, it was great to learn more about her artistry, and we at Mesmerized have been firm fans ever since.
‘Someday Got Away’ is Moira’s brand new offering, released only a few days ago, and it’s unquestionably one of the most beautiful tunes we’ve come across recently. With her signature dreamy alternative folk sound, Moira offers up a deeply personal song about the realisation of running out of time.
“We often wait too long to explore the things that call to us, sacrificing our dreams in order to support others,” says Chicilo. “We rationalize the decision to hold off by saying there will be time later”.
Recounting the words of her late sister, a gifted painter, Moira points out that hearing her say “I didn’t get to paint my masterpiece” was a heartbreaking experience. At the same time, however, it gave her the courage to explore her creative passions.
‘Someday Got Away’ is yet another absolute gem that Chicilo can proudly add to her growing discography, and she’s a musician whose journey we feel honoured to be a part of. Here’s to many more!
