Emerging from Nashville, MNERVA’s story is rather interesting. While he’s championing a charismatic emo-rock sound, his beginnings are… quite different. Debuting in 2020, he was a hip-hop artist, rapping and grooving with charming and intense flow. Then, the year after, the project’s sound started to change. It didn’t go straight into guitars shenanigans, but rather, it shifted into a gritty, more punchy and kaleidoscopic brand of rap, also featuring the occasional distorted guitar.
Last year’s EP ‘Talk Too Much’ closed a chapter for the Nashville talent; a few months later, ‘Sorry (Forget About Me)’ would open the floodgates to modern punk-rock, often infused with trap beats and short outbursts of rapped vocals. Overall, MNERVA’s current sonic formula is extremely contemporary and perfectly aligned with its times.
‘Love Song’ is the project’s latest effort. A relatively short track, the song navigates mellower ballad vibes, reserving the chorus for exploding into a relatable, emotional and catchy melody. What more could you ever want? Clearly an inspired creative, MNERVA is also a gifted drummer and an energetic performer.
Lyrically, ‘Love Song’ seeks to explore self-discovery and personal growth. As the Nashville talent describes: “I still love “Love Song” because it reminds me that cynical, jaded, and insecure people can find somebody who makes them happy as long as they put themselves out there and open up.”
