‘Wild’ is one of those records that should be experienced, rather than narrated. This is because its value is inherently tied to some of its musical qualities. Exhibiting stunning grooves and charming retro flair, ‘Wild’ is made to communicate with our inner fierce self, to inspire the body into a selfless dance. However you look at it, the record provides a sensation, a feeling, rather than sharing an idea. And in that regard, it’s pretty glorious.
Penned by Munich-based creative Mishell Ivon, the single develops on 80s-flavoured stylings, building a synth-powered arrangement that equally draws from disco, soul and RnB. The result is an explosion of euphoria and empowerment, further advanced by Ivon’s evocative and malleable vocals, perfectly pairing with their musical settings.
Describing the lyricism behind ‘Wild’, Mishell explains: “Wild came about because of a comment that was made to me about me / my look. ‘You must admit.. you’re Wild’ – It’s like they couldn’t wrap their head around not just wanting to blend into the crowd.. swim with the stream.”
