Incredibly powerful and vibrant, ‘Promise’ surpassed our expectations. The latest effort by post-hardcore duo Miles To One, the track seems to embrace a harder, fiercer sonic identity, entering nu-metal and emo territories with charisma and confidence. We dig it: frankly, the musical talent in it is rather incredible. Formed by Portugal-based Chris Hunstock and Philippine-based vocalist ‘One’, the pair have never met in real life.
Yet, their creative alchemy is really strong. A collaboration initiated during the pandemic, Miles To One is now blooming into a post-rock power outfit, and while their catalogue is limited, we suspect there’s a lot more to come from the exciting project. ‘Promise’ follows up from ‘No Surrender’, last year’s debut effort. It’s interesting to notice how the duo has been shifting into a less poppy and mainstream pop-rock sound (kudos to producer Cameron Pierce Mizell).
Seems like a great choice: ‘Promise’ is bound to appeal to a wider, more dedicated audience, hopefully sparking the beginning of a glorious era for the international group. Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, they explain: “The song reflects the power that we discover within ourselves just by having something or someone worth fighting for. We become this powerful force to safeguard what matters most to us, and all of a sudden protecting it becomes the most natural thing we can do.”
