The keen reader will remember Michigan rockers Foundry Town Survivors from past features on our blog; it is then with joy that we welcome them back with their latest release, the poignant and sultry gem ‘The Night Is Alive’. In true FTS style, we are instantly met with retro AOR vibes, elegantly stacking friendly pop melodies on top of more gritty and rock-infused instrumentals. Moreover, the record feels like a step up from its predecessor (‘Blue Sky’), boasting a wider production and a punchier, louder master.
Could this be the best track the Michigan duo have written so far? We strongly think so. Echoing a charming blend between Toto’s classy musicianship and Sting’s evocative vocal tones, ‘The Night Is Alive’ has proven to be a real heavy hitter, providing almost four minutes of vintage blissfulness. Back in the 80s, this would have been a worldwide hit!
The Ann Arbor’s talents have finally found their best shape. Members Mark Tomorsky and Tommy Johnsmiller showcase their musical genius, also aided by metaphorical lyrical matter, motivating the listeners to be authentic towards themselves. It’s all conveyed through relatable melodies, with the occasional stack of harmonies really giving it a vintage vibe.
Overall, a glorious record from Foundry Town Survivors, who seem to have found the sacred formula to deliver chart-topping material.
