Micheal Fordays Returns with Nostalgic Single ‘Here At The Gates’

Almost a month ago, we wrote about Micheal Fordays that “the Los Angeles-based rocker enters 2025 with the confidence of having done good work”. It turns out, he’s not done yet, and such good work continues, especially with Fordays’ latest effort ‘Here At The Gates’, a nostalgic look at how hard can be to deal with change and leave the past behind. Surprisingly, the track still maintains a certain upbeat character, a sign that Micheal looks at the issue with a rather playful, bold approach.

It fits the project well: built over its usual striking pop rock livery, ‘Here At The Gates’ sees a healthy amount of fuzzy tones and rolling drum grooves, accompanying Fordays’ charming, luscious vocals towards their lyrical glory. That’s just what happens: the record showcases the American creative in all his nuanced artistry, something that has been clear for a while now.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Fordays explains: “It is literally about coming to the end of the road, an end of a relationship, the end of a band etc. It’s “Where do we go from here?” and realizing “I thought dreams were dreamed would carry us where we want to be…but the fallen don’t follow where they don’t begin.”
