Michael Peloso Shares Hopeful Gem ‘That Will Be Me’

Delving into ‘That Will Be Me’, by American songwriter Michael Peloso, it’s sort of an emotional process. We weren’t expecting it, but the story of how the song came to fruition is quite heartbreaking. We’ll get there in a second, but first, we should contextualise. You see, Peloso has been writing lyrics his whole life. Using it as a tool for personal expression, he was able to connect with fellow artists, lending his nuanced compositional skills to the likes of Natalie Jean, Christina Gaudet, Kathy Sanborn & Dennis Sy.

We actually caught a glimpse of his artistry back in 2021, featuring his album ‘Life’s Little Accidents’. Now, after a quiet couple of years, Peloso gears up for another full-length record, with ‘That Will Be Me’ being the second single to anticipate it.

Shifting to the new record, the listeners will recognize everything that’s made Michael’s songwriting exceptional: poignant melodies, refined lyricism and a wonderful attitude for catchy and relatable themes. ‘That Will Be Me’ was written at a very crucial time in Peloso’s life, him being in a hospital bed with stage IV colon cancer. The track was intended for his two daughters. As the American songwriter explains: “I didn’t know if I was going to make it. If I didn’t, I wanted them to know that I would somehow be there for them. I wanted them to know that they would never be alone. Somehow, I’d be there.”
